Transformations: a curatorial comment
 |
In his latest body of work, the digital fine artist and photographer Eric Olson “transforms” his original photographs through a series of digital procedures that ultimately create an abstract landscape dissolved of all objective literacy.

A key movement of twentieth century art was the use of abstraction as an expression of the unconscious that was free of literal association and contrived meaning. Mr. Olson shares this same objective: to use an intuitive artistic process to celebrate the essence of a visual field that is free from figurative, preconceived confines and interpretations.
In his words, “The objective is to remove the literalness and common details of the image while liberating and expanding its energy and feeling.” Thus, the sensation of a place, a time, or a memory is felt through composition rather than evoked from representation.

We support ArtPlatform, a simple idea with a big heart. ArtPlatform enables contemporary artists to sell their work in aid of charity, and connects buyers with great art. All but a fraction of the proceeds go to charities such as Colalife, chosen by the artists and buyers.
